Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say early analysis show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior official commented the attack rendered him stunned and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
